A combination safari including the Masai Mara (Kenya) and the Serengeti (Tanzania) is ideal if you plan on seeing the Great Migration, travelling between mid-July and October, when the herds are typically within the area. The migrating herds are constantly moving in search of greener pasture, and their location is dependent on the weather patterns. At this time of the year, it is not uncommon to see the river crossings, from one side to the other side of the Mara River. The area is excellent for game viewing all year long, with loads of predators; it simply becomes grandiose when the thousands of zebras and wildebeest are also traversing the plain.
